State of Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) Launches Medicaid Estate Recovery Program

Effective September 1, 2004, the state of Texas (through the Department of Health and Human Services) has now been authorized to file a claim against Medicaid recipients' decedent’s estate in order to recover the cost of long-term care provided -including but not limited to nursing home fees, hospital care, and medicine costs.
